The catch on our oven door failed on Christmas day (as they do). We managed to cook the goose by wedging the door shut with a heavy box. Obviously this wasn't a long term solution and espares stepped up to the plate. I ordered a new catch from espares with some trepidation. However it arrived within a few days. The Rangmaster manual showed me how to take the door to pierces and I fitted the new catch in less than 5 minutes. It works perfectly and couldn't recommend espares highly enough.

It was the correct item for a Rangemaster but the two holes were not tapped. The damaged one I removed was tapped. If you put a nut and bolt through the hole as it stops the latch from opening. I had to get the holes tapped to an M40 size and was then able to install it and now it operates perfect.

Very simple and easy task replacing the door catch, only two tools were needed: 1. a 2.5mm hex key for the screws holding the front panel of the door. 2. a 7mm socket for the self-tapping screws securing the catch. The total time need to complete the job was not much more than five minutes and now the door closes as it should. I shall order a spare catch so that if the same problem develops with the door of the second oven I can replace straight away.
