Vax Vacuum Cleaners

Description

Have you noticed that although the motor is running properly, your vacuum's brush bar isn't turning, or there's a smell of burnt rubber? You may have a snapped or faulty drive belt. Replace it with this spare from Vax to get back up and running.

Fitting Tips*:

  1. Turn off and unplug the vacuum cleaner. Locate the plate or housing that retains the agitator brushroll.
  2. Remove the plate to gain access to the belt. Lift out the brushroll and clean the bearings. Discard the old belt.
  3. Fit the replacement belt by stretching it from the brushroll to the motor drive shaft - it may help to use a screwdriver to stretch the belt across.
  4. Confirm that the brushroll turns freely with the new belt fitted, and then refit the housing.
*Please note: This is a general guide only - the process may vary depending on your vacuum's brand and model.

Genuine spare part for select Vax vacuum cleaners - please check the list of appliances prior to ordering to ensure that this is the correct motor belt for your vacuum cleaner.

The belt was quickly delivered and easily fitted, however, this is the third belt I have fitted to this device in just over two years - I would say there is a problem with longevity. That being said, replacing the belt is considerabily cheaper than replacing the vacuum cleaner.

The original belt on our vacuum had melted I assume because the roller had jammed. As someone has pointed out in another review, there is little surface area for the drive shaft to grip onto the belt with. I've given a 4 for quality as it remains to be seen how long the replacement lasts. However it is a genuine part so I can't have issue with with. Value is a tad pricey by the time you add the delivery cost, although cheaper than I've seen it elsewhere.

A very easy to do job when the suckerupper stops sucking. The fitting is a piece of cake, a little fiddly when stretching the belt to get the brush back in the slot. The belt is a genuine part and my belt has snapped 3 times over 2 years. Now this may be to do with my short pile carpets, but I doubt it, the drive for the belt inside the vacuum is a small steel rod, as there is little surface area on the belt itself if the brush gets stuck the drive rod melts into the belt causing it to snap. This is a Vax original design problem and not a fault in the belt itself, that is why I have rated it 4 stars.

Undo the screw on the height ajustment knob and the screws underneath lift the casing off Its a bit fiddly but look how the old one is fitted and unhook brush bar and replace the new one where the old one was Replace the casing and screw back into place

  • Q How do I remove the covers to replace the drive belt on a Vax Power Pet P1p? 1 Answer

I have removed the obvious 4 screws but the casings seem to be joined by the height adjuster. The stem will not turn far enough to line up the pegs on the adjuster stem with the slots in the lower casing and I am reluctant to use too much force.
