The video How To was for a Diplomat cooker and that is far more complicated than my Hotpoint. Each element is held in by one screw, though having been in place for some years it was reluctant to undo with a screwdriver but an 8mm spanner undid it easily. I slid the old element forward, put a crocodile clip on each wire to stop them disappearing back through the holes, and pulled off the connectors. Then I discarded the old element, and positioned the new one approximately then reconnected the wires and removed the crocodile clips. Then I eased the wires back through the holes and fixed the element in place with its screw. Turning it on for a couple of minutes burned off the preservative and it is ready for use. !5 minutes start to finish, and most of that was finding which size spanner fitted. I would recommend this product, and confirm that installation is an easy DIY job.

The 'How to' video gave me the confidence to purchase this item and I managed to fit it with ease. Great quality and excellent value for money. Last time the element needed replacing I was charged an 'arm and a leg', by doing it myself, with the simple on-line guidance I saved a lot of money!!!!

Elements are usually sold singularly, as pictured on the website. There may be more than one element listed because they are of different qualities but still compatible, or the parts vary depending on your model. Please confirm the full model number of your appliance to make sure what elements are available for you, as bu62 is incomplete. Told by customer services that the difference is just a quality issue. Bought the cheaper one and works fine. The element comes singularly, so I bought 2 and replaced both. kept the original good one as a spare

During oven use both elements should run and produce ' black heat' where the element is powered but does not glow. if one is glowing there is likely to be a switch problem.
