Hoover Vision HD Washing Machine Error/Fault Codes

If your Hoover Vision HD washing machine has stopped mid-cycle or has not washed your clothes efficiently, it may display an error code to explain why. To get to the bottom of the problem you’ll need to know what the error code means so we’ve put together this handy guide for you.

When the fault code is displayed you’ll see a number on the LCD screen of your washing machine. If your machine doesn’t have an LCD display the 2nd from the top spin speed LED and 1st on the left option button LED will flash – count the number of flashes to get the number of your error code.

How to Decode Hoover Vision HD Washing Machine Error Codes

Error 0 – Faulty Wiring or Control Module

As this fault doesn’t specify an area in your washing machine you’ll need to check all control boards and the wiring and connections around your machine to find the fault causing this error code to display. See if there are any other noticeable problems in your washing machine, otherwise getting to the bottom of this error code could take some time!

Error 1 – Door Lock Error

This fault code indicates a problem with the door lock. Check the lock and its wiring and connections and replace it if necessary.

Error 2 – Filling Problems

There are a few reasons why your washing machine has not been able to fill with water. Check the tap that lets the water supply into your appliance is fully open and that the inlet hose is not squashed. Check the valve that lets water into your machine too.

If you haven’t found the cause of the problem, check your manual as detergent issues can also relate to this error code in some washing machines.

Error 3 – Draining Problems or Pressure Switch Issue

Whereas the above code relates to problems with water coming into your machine, this error code related to problems with water coming out of your machine aka drainage problems. This error code could be caused by a blocked filter or a blocked or faulty drain pump.

Alternatively, there could be an issue with the pressure switch (the sensor that detects the amount of water in the machine). The switch itself could be faulty, the hose that connects to the switch could be blocked or there could be excess detergent in the machine giving the sensor an inaccurate reading.

Josh explains washing machine drain and pump problems in more detail in our video below:

Error 4 – Faulty Inlet Valve

This error code indicated there is a problem with the valve that lets water into the washing machine. Check the valve and fit a replacement valve if you need to.

Error 5 – Temperature Sensor Fault

The temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the water in your washing machine. Check the sensor itself and the wiring and connections to it. If it has developed a fault it will need to be replaced.

Error 6 - Faulty Wiring or Control Module

As with Error 0 this fault could relate to any area in your washing machine so you’ll need to observe the machine and check the control boards and wiring to get to the bottom of the fault.

Error 7 – Faulty motor

Error 7 indicates that the washing machine motor isn’t working as it should. The most common cause of washing machine motor failure is worn carbon brushes. These are relatively easy to replace, but if they’re not the cause of the fault you may need to replace your entire washing machine motor instead.

Here’s a bit more information about washing machine motor problems:

Error 8 – Faulty Motor Tacho

The motor tacho is the part of the washing machine motor which monitors spinning speed. Check the tacho and connections to it, you may need to replace it or replace the motor.

Error 9 – Faulty Motor Triac

The triac is the part on your washing machine control board that communicates with the motor to control the spinning speed of the washing machine. A control module may need replacing if the triac is displaying as faulty.

Error 10 – Programme Selector Fault

Error 10 is indicative of another control board error. Your main washing machine control module may either need replacing or reprogramming. If it if the latter you’ll need to contact Hoover directly as the equipment needed to reprogram a Hoover washing machine is too expensive to make fixing it yourself worthwhile.

Error 12 & Error 13– Communication Error Between Control Boards

Both Error 12 and Error 13 indicate problem with the control boards or wiring. Check the wiring and connections between the boards and if all looks good, suspect the boards themselves.
