Machine fault code showed the thermistor was not working. The thermistor is included with the heating element. Espares technical support were unable to clarify this so I bought the element on spec. So if you are faced with the same dilema you now know that this element includes the thermistor.

Fitting New Washing Machine Heater 05 June 2012
As expected, fitting this ONCE the old heater had been removed was very easy - push in - tighten nut with a socket (very useful to have drive extension). Replace electrical connectors. The problem was to remove the old heater as the rubber seal (which seals by compression) had hardened - I needed to use a spanner under the old heater to "ease" (!) it out.

QUICK AND COST EFFECTIVE 17 February 2012
Heating element failed in washing machine. got onto espares found the part easily ordered simple and straight forward. It was delivered quickly and I fitted it same day. Fitted perfectly and worked a treat. Very simple to replace and one with basic knowledge could do it - tip if the old one is being a pain to remove - lever a gap in the rubber and introduce a little WD40 do this in a few places. waits a few minutes and give it a tug - popped out effortlessly. Refit the new one with a little washing up liquid on the rubber. Ran 2 wash cycles through to test for leaks and to remove the washing up liquid remains and the WD40. Whole job 30 mins!! easy. I recommend espares for getting quality spares in a timely fashion that an save you ALOT of cash!!! Imagine calling out an engineer for this - ouch!!

Fixed problems, easyish install 14 February 2012
Machine got stuck in wash cycle and would not move on to rinse spin etc, found water not heating up. Replaced heater,problem fixed. On-line video helped installation, took abit of prising to get the old one out, but slow and steady and do not force is the secret.

Worth the money 01 December 2016
This was listed as a genuine Hotpoint spare, hence the higher price than lookalikes. Sure enough it arrived in a Hopoint branded packaging, and it fitted exactly like the Espares video, something I was not confident a lookalike would do, because of the rather clever sealing methodology. Also comes with temperature sensor fitted, which the really cheap lookalikes do not. Full marks Indesit/Hotpoint, and Espares.
