First impression are good. 09 April 2022

Can’t really review this product until you have used the cooker hood over a few months. However the product looked the part and it was easy to change the filter and replace with the new carbon pellets. They were solid and were not messy or dusty. So first impression is that they are good.

    Short measure 19 March 2021

The unbranded pot delivered doesn't look like that shown here but is probably still Italian. The un-opened pot only weighed 473 grams so I've got short measure for 480g content. Only just refilled the filter so don't know quality yet, but looks OK. Much cheaper than a replacement filter and no plastic to landfill.

Extractor Fan Charcoal Chips 20 September 2015

I thought the product was expensive but as it was not readily available in local shops so I bought it on line. I cannot report on it's effectiveness until it's been used more often. The dismantling and fitting is a messy procedure so you need a sheet or a newspaper to place underneath the charcoal. Taking a positive view, I was going to buy a new cooker hood so at least I saved myself the hassle and expense.

Did the job 28 February 2015

I couldn't find my cooker hood model anywhere and a universal filter was too small (e-spares fully refunded this - fantastic service) but I discovered a concealed cover in the filter to allow the charcoal to be replaced so this was a great solution. Only negatives I had nearly 600g of charcoal in my old filter and this pot has 450g but I believe most other filters are smaller. I cleaned my old empty filter in the dishwasher, re-filled it and all seems well.

Great alternative to replacing expensive filters 19 November 2013

This is a really good way to save money, the original complete filters are very expensive, this alternative does exactly the same job but is more than 50% cheaper. The 480g contents is supposed to be enough for filling both filters but is in fact less volume than the original filters, its probably best to buy 2 bottles now and you will have some left over for next time you change the carbon, so in 2 years time just buy 1 bottle. Opening the filters can be a little fiddly so patience is required, be sure to put plenty of news paper down on you surface before starting as the carbon can be messy. When re-sealing make sure the 2 halves are lined up correctly before attempting to snapping them shut. Overall experience, would recommend to anyone with DIY ability. Good luck

Good value purchas 05 November 2011

The activated charcoal comes in a easy to use container which prevents spillage when recharging the filters. A good cheap alternative to buying new filters. The container has enough of the product for at least two filters.

    You'll probably want 2 tubs. 02 November 2011

Fitting these was relatively straightforward. I discovered in the process that my no-name cooker hood's filters actually had a flap to aid refilling (I was expecting to have to pop out the spring clips holding the filter together with a screwdriver). 500g of pellets is not enough for my cooker hood, and I suspect won't be for many others. I recommend ordering 2 tubs to be on the safe side.

    Good purchase 14 March 2011

Getting the chips in and distributed evenly is a bit awkward but it is a cheaper alternative to the complete unit. Either use a funnel or pour the chips in slowly and carefully. Note that any chips that fall on the floor will get any available nook or cranny.
