  Vent Kit Review 21 October 2011

  This appeared to be a universal vent kit and did not easily connect to the cooker hood or to the 100mm pipe in the wall. I did manage to adapt it to fit but had to use duct tape to seal the joints which looks amateurish. However it did the job.

  It says Universal but it is very difficult to make it fit our Ariston Hood. The size of fittings and hose are non standard and hose too short. The supplier supplied a longer hose, guess what too small dia.

  Good value price wise but didn't just fit on as i thought it would. adaptions had to created involving duct tape (& the joiner who was here at the time)to secure the flexi pipe to the hood. my extractor is a Belling.

  I bought this item for our Neff extractor hood to convert from internal to external venting. I employed a tradesman to do the actual work as it involved some accurate drilling. The search on the e-spares website indicated that this kit was compatible with my type of cooker hood. There were no detailed fitting instructions though the box did contain an assembly diagram. The main problem was that the plastic collar which attached to the spiggot on the top of the fan housing was fractionally too large. I used the foam strip (see product illustration) to line the inside of the collar to provide a better fit but I'm not sure if that was what it was for. The result is reasonable but there is clearly a compromise when buying an item with a universal fit. I suspect that a Neff branded part (if available) would have fitted better but would have cost more.

  vent kit 10 February 2009

  I'm always a bit sceptical with universal kits as many of them rarely come up to their specifications.. In this case though I was very pleased- in particular as I had to reduce the size of of the vent from 120mm to 100mm. The requisite piece was included in the kit which made the fitting very easy.
