  Bosch washing machine brought back to life. 04 October 2021

  My 10 yr old Bosch stopped spinning and was ready for the graveyard. Just thought I’d have a google and hey presto, ‘maybe the carbon brushes need replacing’, surely couldn’t be that easy. 12 quid later and following the instructional video from eSpares I have a fully working machine. Saved me a fortune, what can I say but thanks :).

  Replacement Brushes 27 August 2021

  These replacement bushes got my Bosch washer going following an error code fault F21. My washer does not have a large removeable backpanel to access the motor and it had to be done by placing it on its side and accessing from underneath. Still straightforward however but you will need a 10 mm ring spanner rather than a socket. No mention made in the video of the clear plastic watershield which is fitted to keep water off the motor terminals, on my model anyway. No mention made that you may have to do a programmer reset to get rid of the fault code but this can be readily found elseware on the internet.

  The only reason these don't fit FHP motors ... 05 July 2021

  These were stated to fit my WFK2801GB/01 machine, but not an FHP motor. The brushes themselves are identical size to the ones in my FHP motor (12.3x4.9mm cross-section) - the only reason they wouldn't fit straight in is that the spade terminals on the FHP motor brushes are about 1mm narrower than these, so the terminals on these are initially too wide to fit into the slots in the surrounding metal tube. That was easily rectified, allowing these cheaper brushes to be used - and they work perfectly. Makes you wonder if that was just a cynical design choice ...

  Difficult to Fit 28 May 2021

  My Bosch WFO2467GB/17 drum had stopped turning, but everything else was working, so I watched the video and bought some new brushes. The plan was good, but the access hole on the back of the machine is not big enough to get at, let alone remove the motor. I have a tumble drier stacked on top that I could not move, so had to raise the two onto some wooden blocks so the motor could be accessed from underneath. It was only just possible, but I managed it with a little help and painful bruises on both arms from manipulating the motor through the access hole and underneath. The old brushes were worn, so they needed replacing. The result was satisfactory, as the drum is now turning and the machine is fully operational. The bruises are fading... but that's a small price to pay.

  Did the trick! 22 March 2021

  My w machine is 11 years old. So when it wouldn't complete its cycle I thought it would be the end of the road. But a hour or two of research helped me decide it was fixable. The brushes came quickly, and an hour or so later the motor was on the bench. Cleaned up the commutator and put in new brushes. Reassembled and it's working fine. A fix for less than the price of a trip to the laundry can't be bad.

  Fiddly but worth it 16 March 2021

  Bosch washing machine showed code f21. Watched video on how to replace carbon brushes on espares and thought i could replace them myself. Placed order on a Sunday for next day delivery and they arrived noon Monday. Took back access panel off machine in evening, belt came off easily, motor came off quite easily but had to tackle that with one hand through access area in back and one hand beneath. The brushes were worn to a fraction of the length of the new. Replacing the brushes was very fiddly and exasperating. But eventually fitted. Wired it all back up. Then took at least 30 or 40 attempts to clear the f21 code. Turned dial to spin waited two seconds, held spin button, turned dial to drain for two seconds, let go spin button, turned dial to off. That worked. Whole job took about 4 hours including trying to clear the code for about 30 mins. But washine fixed in a couple of days during covid lockdown. Not first time i have used espares videos and spares to fix important kitchen and laundy equipment. I am a complete amateur.
