Genuine Flymo spare part for select lawnmowers, lawnrakes, strimmers, and powerhoes
will the capacitor just push into the switch as i can`t get the old one out thanks
- Does it matter which way round the brown (live) and blue (neutral) wires go into the switch as long as it is the same on both sides?
- Espares were of no help so for the benift of others the live feed in goes in the holes where the screwa are, wires from switch out to the bottom holes and capscitor into the top holes on the same side. Simples.

I replaced the switch and capacitor, the lawnmower ran perfectly when I tested it, put it all back together only to find it won’t now run. Checked everything, no loose connections, no burning smell or buzzing.
- Had exactly the same problem. Found out it was caused by a broken retaining spring to one of the motor brushes. Tried to obtain a replacement to no avail so cannibalised an old spring from a defunct motor and fabricated it to fit. Mower now working fine.

Use a meter to check continuity from the plug to the motor. If the motor measures high resistance then that would be the fault.
Is this the capacitor?

You would need to test the components with a multimeter to determine which part has failed.
When I first switched on this summer had a problem first with the mower not switching off, later only starting up intermittently before cutting out. Replaced switch, not capacitor. Now, checked with multimeter, there seems to be no voltage at all at motor. Do I need to replace the capacitor? (No expert, resistance reads ~5.5 ohms on the 200-scale across the motor on the multimeter, which I do not think is high).

GLIDER 330 will not switch off when triggers released so have to switch off at plug will a replacement switch be the answer ? 1 Answer

When these fail they will blow the mains fuse or show signs of burning. They are only to reduce mains interference from the motor being radiated through the supply.

I have bought a new switch and capacitor for a Flymo Vision Compact 350 but there is no wiring diagram.I need to know the postion of the capacitor and switch wiring?
- the capacitor is there to build up a charge to supply a direct current pulse to the motor to start it spinning .the alternating mains current then keeps it spinning without the capacitor the motor will make a buzzing noise but wont start .i suggest you open the switch housing inthe centre of the handle and study the old wiring -take a photo or make a sketch i think you will find the capacitor in that assembly but i have not needed to explore that one yet

- i would suspect motor windings shorting between windings effectively reducing the number of windings and allowing more current to pass as fewer windings have less resistance -the excess current will produce more heat and the slower revolutions less cooling so motor will overheat and burn out the probable cause is that at some stage the microlite has been overloaded and caused motor to run hot causing a partial burning of windings insulation which is only a form of shellac covering on the wires
