  • How do you fit this product By Julie laws - Gatesdhead - 02 July 2019

Hoover paddles are usually held by clips and one stainless steal screw that can be accessed by removing the sump hose. Use blue tac to hold the screw on the tip of the driver.

We believe this will usually stay in place held by the spring clip if the screws are not refitted.

Please view our advice centre page which will give you more information on this matter, http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/7/1528 The model in this video may be different to yours, however the process should be similar for other makes and models.

Answer this question

the paddle has come off and broken leaving a screw exposed will the new paddle have to be screwed in place or will it be secure enough just slid into place

The paddle may slide and click into place but if the manufacturers have fitted a screw it is likely to be more secure if this is refitted. You may be able to fit the screw by removing the sump hose of the drum. Take care not to loose the screw as it will not be magnetic so to stick on the screwdriver tip try candle wax or Blu tack.

To access the screw you may have to lower onto one side and remove the sump hose. It is fairly difficult even for an engineer.

If the paddles do not just slide and lock in place we think on your machine the paddles slide into place and are secured using a stainless steal screw from under the tub. To access and remove the screw you may have to lay the machine on its side and remove the hose from the bottom of the tub. As the screw is not magnetic you can use 'blue tack' to hold it onto the screwdriver tip. This is a difficult repair and you may consider it best to contact an engineer to carry it out for you.

The drum assembly is supplied as one piece in this machine but the paddles are replaceable. From memory I think there is one maybe two stainless steel screws per paddle that need to be removed before you can slide the paddle and release it from its grooves. You may be able to reach these screws by lying the machine down and removing the sump hose.
