You will need to identify if the door handle has broken which will stop the door catch from connecting to the lock if ok suspect the lock itself.
I've always had to slam my washing machine door to get it to lock shut but now the doors not locking at all, anytime I shut the door I can just pull it open again so will replacing this fix that problem 1 Answer

It is likely the door interlock is causing the problem.
We replaced the door interlock on our indesit washing machine with one we orderes from here. Fitted it with no problem but the door will still not close and the lock button / light is flashing red. Any help or suggestions?

Check the door catch is going into the door lock correctly to make contact or it won't start.
Door lock keeps on flashing. Checked contacts with a meter ,no complete circuit either way suspect switch faulty? 1 Answer
Hotpoint washing m/c had to replace door seal. Switch always a bit tempremental door lock keeps flashing

The door lock flashing indicates the door is not closed if you are not getting readings through the door lock it is likely to be faulty.

This item is a complete replacement door lock, if you are talking about the door catch that inserts into the lock then it is supplied separately.
Hello once the door is shut the program selected the lock symbol appears and the machine starts to fill, some seconds later the lock symbol disappears with a click and a few seconds later fault code 06 is displayed. A few repeated tries got some success to run the complete cycle. I s this likely to be the interlock switch or the board that supplies the signal to the interlock

Later Hotpoint and Indesit models can show this error if there is a problem with the door lock (different type of lock). Check this is the right lock for your machine.
When we close the door it clicks and seems to lock shut but the programme wont start; the red light is on and the door lock itself is engaged so we have to manually override it to get the washing out.

Check the motor brushes are not worn out before suspecting the door lock.

Hi, I have an Indesit IWB6123 washing machine. I can close the door, but the door locked light keeps flashing. In the past you could sometimes give the door a nudge and the door lock would stop flashing and stay on, and the cycle would start. This is no longer possible and the light stays on. Am I right to think that I need a new lock?

THE DOOR LOCK SYMBOL ON MY HOTPOINT WMD 962 WASHING MACHINE IS PERMANENTLY ON. I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR, BY PULLING A GREEN ROD. IVE CHECKED THE FILTER WHICH IS CLEAR & IVE TURNED THE MACHINE ON & OFF AT THE MAINS BUT THE DOOR LOCK REMAINS ON. 1 Answer

The fault may be a faulty door switch or a problem causing the machine to lock the door. If the machine recognised a fault and locked the door it would normally give a fault code. If this is not the case then try a new lock.
