Product Q&A

Ask a Question

I had an F:21 error. Bought a set of brushes from espares and have just fitted. Cleared the F:21, but now when I try to run a spin cycle to test, it tries to start then the display goes blank, then comes back at 0.01 mins. Also happens if I try to cycle through spin speeds - i.e. the diplay goes off then on again, with the start button flashing..

Check the brushes and motor plug are correctly fitted. It sounds like the board is resetting when the motor is being driven. If the motor checks OK it may be a control board fault.

Answer this question

My Bosch Classixx 6 1400 has reported an F21 error and after removing the motor and the brushes, it's evident that the brushes need replacing. My local supplier advised only using Bosch brushes. Are these brushes just as good?

To reset the F21 error on a Bosch machine, turn the program knob from the off position (12 o'clock), to the 6 o'clock position and immediately press and hold the spin button. Then while holding the spin button turn the knob to 7 o'clock position and continue holding spin button for 15 seconds. Then turn the knob to the off position.

Had a bit of a difficult time since replacing the brushes. Motor works for a while and then starts sparking a little, then more and more until it stops altogether. Would this be symptomatic of the one or both brushes not sliding properly iand therefore creating intermittent contact as it wears down until it loses contact altogether? If so, is there a recommended solution to get them sliding freely?

The brush holders are only thin 'brass' ? plate and could easily bend and cause sticking. Check if one brush appears to stick and try to 'repair' the holder by carefully using a screwdriver to shape the housing if required. Clean the armature with fine grade abrasive paper before reuse.

Badly worn brushes can damage a control board but this is quite rare. Usually replacing the brushes will return the machine to working order and provided the drum bearings are not noisy the machine may last many years more.

Answer this question

pump ok. drive belt ok but main motor not turning. Followed your video, but the sides and back of the case are all in one piece. Just a small panel at the back so cannot get the motor out as you show on the video to get at the brushes. Can you help?

It is possible to undo the motor and lower it to the floor before tilting the machine to remove the motor or alternatively disconnect the pipes remove the draw and carefully lower it onto its side for access. Make sure you have help if needed to lower and lift the machine.

The 4 brown wires that connect to the quick release plug on the rinse water sensor have all come away from the plug. What is the best way to identify which wires fit where. I have tried to find a schematic but to no avail. Is there a way to identify which wire fits were or is it possible to get a new section of the loom consisting of the 4 wires and a plug on each end. The connections on the other end go to another plug that fits onto the PCB. Any help appreciated

Fills with water and drains but drum doesn't turn when either washing or spinning . Is this likely to be the carbon brushes or something other ? Please help !

Yes there is a high chance of the problem being the carbon brushes, Check them before ordering replacements.

Answer this question

the filter is clear, the machine drains fine. the belt is fine. all other functions seem to work, though it did leak a lot of water when I last used it on monday. The drum just doesnt turn at all. It is at least 10.5 years old.

Hiya- yes, if as you said the belt seems to be taught and you can't spin the drum freely when the machine is off/ stopped then most likely it will be the carbon brushes.

It might be worth replacing the seal as well if the machine is leaking and if you've not replaced the seal for quite some time. 10.5 years is pretty good going for the machine though! :)
