    It is unlikely to be the thermostat but could be blocked restricting the air flow, check for a blockage before suspecting anything else.

Could the problem be a part in the freezer?

    check if the freezer is over freezing behind the freezer panel, test the defrost heater as if is not working it can cause the fridge to over freeze.
