  • Just as Jreidu said for a Neff B1691N0GB oven from circa 2001. Use self-tapping screws in adjacent holes in carcass to the rivet/weld on reassembly and good as new. The hinge runners were the solution to the poor door closing. By DJC - - 01 January 2017
  • Jreidu. Yes that works. Why on earth do they need to rivet the bottom plate on is beyond me. If you are very dextrous and have fairly small hands you only need to take out two rivets as the bottom plate will then bend back sufficiently to manoeuvre the runner out. The new runners cured the problem. The door shuts perfectly - and tightly now. So thanks again Jreidu. I don't think I would have arrived at this solution myself and it saved me lots of time as a result. By Rick - Pangbourne - 19 February 2015

We are pleased you managed to solve your own problem and thank you for the feedback as this may help others when they face this problem in the future.

  • This is an answer to my own question. In trying to remove the bottom plate I removed all the likely looking screws (and quite a few of the less likely ones) but the bottom plate was still firmly attached to the oven. Eventually, after much examination, I noticed that ther were four rivets, one at each corner. I drilled these out and the plate came off easily. Beside each rivet there was a screw hole without any screws fitted. When I reassembled the oven I put a screw in each of these holes although this may not have been necessary since the plate is held in front and back. Incidentally, replacing the runners has cured the long standing problem of the door not closing properly a problem I had already tried to cure by fitting new hinges. Both the old runners are vey badly distorted. By Jreidu - Edinburgh - 08 January 2014

We cannot say when is the right time to replace your parts. We unfortunately do not have a guide for replacing runners on an oven but we will hopefully have a video up soon.

The manufacturer uses rivets to hold the side panels that need to be removed to allow access to the runners, you will need to put self-tapping screws back into the side panels when refitting.

These runners can get distorted by the oven door being lowered to quickly. As a result the oven door may not close correctly and allow hot air out of the top.
