Fan Oven Element - 2300W

Under-cooked or cold food can be caused by a faulty element. Don't worry, this replacement from eSpares could be just the part that requires.

The function of the fan oven element is to heat the oven cavity. When the cooker knob is turned on for your electric cooker, electricity will flow to the element which then proceeds to heat up. Once the element reaches the desired temperature, the electricity flow switches on and off to maintain the temperature.

eSpares has this replacement fan oven element, which could soon be fitted in your oven to bring back the heat - and get you on your way to cooking those great tasting meals again in no time!

  • The first answer is correct, but the earth wire should have its terminal insulated with tape or block and be tucked into one of the restraining clips on the harness, so that there is no static build up danger. The earth wire must not enter the oven space as this has now been classified differently by the relevant authorities. It is not satisfactory to connect it to the fixing screws of the element. This is why the terminal has been removed. By Anonymous - Burley, Hampshire - 26 July 2013
  • This is not necessary as the oven body is earthed. I just covered the existing earth wire and tucked it down the back of the oven. By Anonymous - - 28 December 2011
Answer this question

When I pulled the old duff element out, there was no spade attached to one side of the element, but two wires connected to each of two spades coming through the hole. One spade was attached to the element. I can't be sure whether the other spade was connected to the other leg of the same element connection or was actually free, and might have been connected to the other side of the element originally. I don't recall having to pull it off the element connector. There is insulating material in the hole where the element connections go through which meant the element didn't `dangle free' when the screws were removed. This material was hanging around the connections and may have pulled off one of the connections. Is it likely that these spades are actually one for each side of the element, or must I get the whole thing out to look from the other side?

If one of the electrical connection has dropped off the element you will have to remove the oven to get the back panel off to gain access to the wiring, make sure the oven is disconnected before you attempt this.

On convection setting it is normal for a grill and a lower oven element to heat. On a fan setting it normally will only use a fan element.

Check the dimensions and fitting match your element and if it is not clear they match use the original part.

Answer this question

can i secure the earth wire to anything our can i just push it away

By colin - home - 31 August 2011
  • Hi Colin, The element will earth through the m,ounting screws as long as they are tight and they screw into the main body (metal & earthed) of the oven. It always best to secure the earth cable if you are not going to use, so that it doesn't touch anything that it shouldn't. Good Luck By Stretchyboy - Hoddesdon - 16 September 2011
