Washing Machine Drain Pump

The drain pump in your washing machine is a key component of the washing process, as it removes the waste water from the drum of the machine at the end of the wash cycle. If you notice that the water is not being drained away, as usual, it could be due to a faulty waste pump. eSpares could help get the dirty water draining away again with this replacement.

The drain pump may either have foreign objects in it (check the filter) or the pump is starting to fail and need replacing.

Answer this question

Hi there We recently had a problem with our machine that meant we had to open the front of thr drain pump to pull out the stuff that was blocking it. This included several shirt collar stiffeners and a 50p piece! Since trying to use the machine since then the drum will not drain. If I drain it manually (combo of jug and then just opening the drain pump casing to let the water out) it then seems to work again (tested spin etc). However, when I attempted a test wash it failed to drain again. I checked the drain pump to make sure no more blockages and all was fine - fan moving freely etc. Think that makes sense, any ideas?

Hi Carlington, it sounds as if you may well need a new drain pump, or perhaps a drain filter that screws in to the pump, as you mentioned. The filter doesn't come with this pump; you'll have to search your model number in the search bar at the top of the page to find out whether it's available.
