Washing Machine Double Inlet Solenoid Valve

If you’re finding water from your household supply is not filling into your washing machine, it could be time to replace the solenoid valve.

The solenoid valve is an electrical component that opens when current is applied to it and allows the machine to fill with water. With this replacement we could help get your appliance back in full working order.

    Good Choice 12 December 2020

I always wonder whether it's a good idea to buy a generic spare part, rather than the manufactures version - especially when you don't have it in your hand to assess the quality. This one was very good quality and definitely worth buying. Although I have changed many spare parts on washing machines before, I needed to view the Espares video to find out how to remove this particular valve, as it was unclear from just looking at it. It proved to be amazingly easy! As usual the video skimmed over "minor" items like the tiny clip holding in the electric plug, but I knew one would be there from past experience. Apart from that, the removal and refit could easily be carried out by virtually anybody willing to try. Very simple!

Replacement Solenoid Saved a Packet! 02 May 2018

When the old Bosch Washing Machine started playing up by not rinsing the load I established that the problem was most likely due to a failed solenoid. Consulting Espares video it was obviously a simple part to remove and fit. This turned out to be the case and the old Bosch is working perfectly once more. I found a suitable replacement on the Espares web site, ordered, and saved a packet.

I had difficulty locating this part but after contacting eSpares they provided me with the correct part number. Had more difficulty removing the old part than fitting the new.

Sorry, but we have not been provided with this information from the manufacturer. The parts listed on our website are all model and serial number dependant (apart from universal parts). In order for us to locate the correct spares for your appliance we would need the model information. Without this we cannot guarantee that the part ordered will be the correct one for your appliance. It is likely the valve is letting in water but check the plumbing in case the machine is backfilling into the washer.

Answer this question

I have checked the brushes on the motor and while they are down to the last 10mm they still run the machine on a spin cycle. I then tried another cycle and this time the machine showed an F17 fault which is the solenoid valve This is where I believe the real problem lies. Can you confirm if this makes sense and should I replace the solenoid valve

F17 occurs if the machine has not filled to the correct level in the allowed time. If it is filling at all check the water is on full. If it does not fill see our advice centre for more information.

If it has filled with water at the start of the wash cycle it would suggest the valve is ok, meter the element and thermostat to confirm they are ok. Check out our advice centre for more help copy and paste into your browser
