Hello. I could sure use some help and would be thankful. This is Mark from Houston, TX. I have a 240V - 50Hz Miele W865 from Germany. It's being powered with 240V - 60Hz and seems to work fine with super hot water, so we know the fill valve, heater, drum drive motor and controls work just fine. I've cleaned the fill lines, detergent dispenser, and inlet hoses from the dispenser to the drum. I've cleaned and opened the drain plug and flushed it out real good. I have not checked the outlet drain line from the pump to the external drain hose connection simply because it's hard to reach. But tomorrow I plan to check that as well. When called upon it will not drain but the drum rolls back and forth and the drain pump impeller spins since I removed the drain plug to look. I haven't measured the actual voltage at the motor. There seems to be a continuous noise best described as a ticking / clicking / ratcheting sound. Sounds like it's coming from the drain pump assy. I'm guessing either the drain pump has failed or it's getting an under voltage either through a loose connection, stuck / corroded relay contact, etc. Or it could possibly be a plugged internal drain line. Is it a foregone conclusion that the drain pump has failed? Any thoughts, input, direction or feedback is appreciated. Cheers, Mark

It is possible the supply of 60hz is upsetting the pump. The only way you will find out is to replace the pump. If there is no blockages and it still is unreliable to run when directly connected to a supply then it can only be a faulty or unsuitable pump. We do not have any information on suitable 60 hz pumps. If this looks like the problem you could change the whole pump assembly for a US pump and modify it to fit.

  • The pump motor impeller spins when energized but doesn't pump the water. I've also hot wired to 240V directly to the motor to bypass and test the internal wiring. Same result, motor spins but not strong enough to push the water out. However, the pump DID drain the water for about 20 seconds only once in the last few days of testing. this happened after I removed the pump motor and cleaned, tested and played with it a bit. But ever since that one time it's back to where the drain pump impeller spins but doesn't drain. Questions: 1.) How confident are you that the motor needs to be replaced? 2) Do you know it the motor is available in 240V / 60Hz.? 3.) I've come across several P/N's that all look to be the same. a. )The original P/N is 0639562 - DPS25-041. b.) The replacement is P/N 56316892 - DPS35-010. c.) I've also seen DPS25-309 and DPS25-096. 4.) I wonder if there is a universal pump motor that will work? Thanks and regards, Mark in Texas By Mark - Richmond, TX - 08 August 2014

I have copied and replied on Youtube as well. Make sure the machine can empty by offering the drain hose to a bucket. If it stall wont pump if the hose is lowered below the water level it should run empty, If it doesn't check for a blockage. If the pump runs when empty but not when hot change the pump. PS if your supply is 120 volts how are you able to supply 240 volts. Remember on heating the washer uses around 2500 to 3000 watts so make sure your 'supply' can deliver this.
