This item is for washing machine and dishwashers only, it would not be suitable for the shower.
Please could you tell me how long this item lasts once installed. Thank you.

The manufacturers do not quote a life expectancy but as this item works purely by magnetism it is reasonable to conclude that it will continue to work while there is a significant level of magnetism. This level does not normally drop unless demagnetised by regular contact with metal or magnetic fields.
