This can be due to not enough in the drum causing the paddles to hit floating items, not emptying quick enough (about 30 to 45 seconds from full) or not fitting the paddles correctly.

If the knob itself spins without resistance at any point, but the control shaft can only be turned to a certain point in either direction, then the knob will need to be replaced. However, if the control shaft spins freely too then you will need to replace the energy regulator.

Hi there, a drum lifter is indeed the removable plastic paddle (usually there is 3 in a drum) that agitates clothes as the drum rotates.
