It is not possible to push or screw it on as the switch disappears into the shredder housing when pressure is applied.

  • Thanks for that, Chris. However, the knob will not screw onto the shaft of the switch whether I try screwing it clockwise or anti-clockwise, which is why I posed the question. When I place the knob onto the shaft and turn it, the shaft simply descends into the shredder housing. I need to be able to keep the shaft out of the housing to click the knob into place. How Bosch managed to put the knob on in the first place is one of those unsolved mysteries of all time, methinks ........... If ever I manage to work it out, I`ll let you know :-) By Geoff. The switch shaft appears to have a spiral that the knob may 'screw' on to so try rotating the knob as you contact the switch.

Answer this question

The switch fitted in my shredder is similar but much simpler. The plastic housing is the same but the box like section in mine is empty, where as the switch unit shown has a relay or similar and a tiny circuit board with connecting wires, mine does not. Thanks. Robin Millard.

Answer this question

I assume the direction change-over switch knob is removed in the same way to gain access behind the electrics panel and therefore to remove the switch.
