    Possibly but if you inspect it and find the belt has not broken check for worn motor brushes as this is more likely. while looking for a leak under the above washing machine it was found that the belt had broken, could there be a connection, prior to finding the belt had broken there was a large pool of water underneath. after finding the belt and drying floor I tried the machine again albeit no belt. It seemed to fill and then empty although an article which was in the machine was completely dry and also the floor was dry could the broken belt belt be the cause. thank you

    No a broken belt would not itself cause a leak. However if the drum has spun with a lot of water due to a slow empty from a blockage. or if the machine has been out of balance then this could have led to water escaping.
