  • AndytheB - thanks for the tip with the pin - worked a treat. I used both a safety pin and a pin according to wire size, just pushed the pin in the hole while wiggling the wire and with a bit of persuasion it releases. By RW - Cambridgeshire - 01 September 2018
  • Actually I found the best way to remove the two wires was to prise the back off the switch (doesn't matter if you wreck it). It is then a simple matter of removing the clips securing the wires and pulling them out intact. This way, there is no danger of damaging the solder tags on the ends of the wires, which are useful when refitting. To refit, simply push the wires into the appropriate holes in the new switch and they will latch. Same for the capacitor. By DS - London - 23 April 2013
  • The way I removed the wire from the old switch was to push a pin into the hole beside the wire and pull. The wires are held inside the switch by a simple spring mechanism! By AndytheB - West Midlands - 02 June 2010

  • In fact, they are just a very tight fit, especially if there is some damp corrosion around. Just get a good grip with long-nose pliers and lever them out against the body - a bit of 'post-hole wobbling' first doesn't hurt. By Baz - Leeds, England - 15 March 2016

Other reviewers suggest breaking the old switch apart (take photo first to identify them).

The wire going to the power switch can break due to movement. Try moving this when the motor is running to see if it cause the cutting out and replace if required.

Sorry we do not have this information, however we would recommend taking a picture of the screw head to a local DIY store.
