  • The picture on the web site is not clear but the black screw cap comes attached to the filter body which slides into a groove and is thus held in place while the screw cap is free to turn. As you tighten the cap the rubber seal stops water leaking out. Mine had jammed completely and the plastic knobby bits broke when trying to force it. Being plastic I simply broke the cap bit by bit using a screwdriver and pliers and extracted the filter body. I then cleaned the thread and the new one fitted a treat. I have since had a different problem where the screw cap unscrewed OK, but the filter body would not pull out. The screw cap prevented me seeing what the problem was so I ordered another filter before attempting to get the jammed one out, but in the event a bit of banging and heaving managed to dislodge what turned out to be a hairclip which was preventing the filter from coming out. I cleaned and replaced the old one which is working OK so I have kept the new one for the next time I have a similar problem! By no1granddad - Farnborough, Hants - 28 April 2010
