• mine was full of hairbands and stuff ... it broke when i tried to unscrew it with pliers, managed to remove it all. Would suggest you take the whole assembly off and clean out all the scale properly. Keep kids little bits and bobs from your machines. ... • To remove the filter i used a set pliers and broke it and chiseled the remaining making sure you do not damage the screw in thread. The reason it is difficult to remove the filter as there is a lot of scaling built behind it. If you do break the filter you can replace it,most of the spares are sold at espares.
