Dyson Small Ball Brush Bar Stopped Spinning

The brush bar is an important part to your cleaner and when it stops spinning you'll struggle to keep your carpets clean. If you are unsure as to what is causing the brush bar on your Dyson Small Ball to stop spinning, then eSpares is here to offer some useful insight.

Cleaner Head

The cleaner head is responsible for keeping the brush in place as it spins at high speeds. If this head becomes damaged then the brush bar may no longer be able to spin.

If the head is damaged then a new tool would be required, and we have replacement cleaner heads which can be fitted in place to restore your Dyson floor tool once again, by allowing the brush bar to spin freely.

However what happens when the cleaner head is fine?

Safety First! Please make sure your appliance is switched off before beginning any maintenance work.

Look for potential blockages, if the cleaner head becomes blocked then the brush bar will struggle to spin. Carefully removing any blockage can help restore the performance of your hoover.

Brush Bar

Does the brush bar not spin because it is damaged, or has the brush become tangled by hair or fibres? Inspecting the brush bar would be a simple check to perform, if it has stopped working you will want to remove the floor tool and inspect the brush.

Safety First! Please make sure your appliance is switched off before beginning any maintenance work.

If you notice that the bar has become entangled, then carefully using a knife or pair of scissors cut the offending cause of the entanglement away. If unfortunately the brush bar is damaged then you will want to replace it to restore the performance of your machine.

Another simple precaution to take is to reset the brush. This is simple to do, press the brush bar control button twice or switch the vacuum cleaner off and on.

Please Note: in most circumstances, the brush will automatically turn off when the machine is upright.
