How to Replace Rail Support Wheels on a Dishwasher

If your dishwasher basket doesn't move as freely as it once did, it may be due to the rail support wheel stiffening overtime (or they have come off altogether). This eSpares video explains how to replace the rail support wheels on a dishwasher.

If you need to replace the rail support wheels on your dishwasher, you will be pleased to know that you have reached the right website to help you! If you have no idea where to begin, there is no need for you to panic - we’ll guide you through how to correctly replace the rail support wheels without damaging your appliance.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Caution: Due to the sharp edges exposed we suggest suitable Safety Gloves are worn to help prevent injury when carrying out this repair.

Step 2 - Remove The Side Panel

Right then here goes...the first thing you need to do is to remove the side panel to access the rail support wheels. However, on your model it may also be necessary to unscrew and remove the top first. To remove the side panel on this model, we just need to unscrew all screws.

Step 3 - Remove The Rail and Wheel Holding Screws

With the side panel out the way, you will be able to see see the two screws that hold the rails and wheels in place. In this video we are removing the front rail support wheels - and to do this we can just remove the end cap on the rail, and when the screws come out can simply slide the rail support wheels off.

eSpares Top Tip: If you're removing the rear rail support wheels it might be easier to take the baskets out first.

Step 4 - Replace The Rail Support Wheels

With both screws removed you can then lift out the rail support wheels, and then proceed to grab the new one and simply screw it in. It really is as easy as that!

Please Note: If your new rail support wheels do not come with the seals you have to transfer them from the old rail support wheels to the new one.

Step 5 - Replace The Rail Stop & Refit Side Panel

With the rail wheels now successfully screwed into place, you can replace the rail stop (end cap) and then finally refit the side panel that you had to remove earlier.

There you go - all done! You can now say that you know how to replace the rail support wheels in your dishwasher. Thanks to your hard work, and a little help from eSpares, you will now be able to use your dishwasher knowing that the basket will be able to move freely once again.
