How to Replace a Dishwasher Door Seal on a Bosch Dishwasher

If you find that your dishwasher is leaking from the front, the problem is likely due to a damaged or faulty door seal. Luckily, you can replace the door seal at home by yourself, as long as you know which steps to take. Here, we're going to run you through how to replace a dishwasher door seal on a Bosch dishwasher so you can get your appliance leak-free once more.

However, it's important to note that there are actually two seals in a Bosch dishwasher; a 3-sided door seal which runs around the sides and top of the doorframe, and a lower door seal which runs along the bottom of the door. This guide will be for the 3-sided door seal, so if you find that it's your lower door seal that's damaged, you can learn how to replace that with our other article here.

Safety first!

Remember, always switch off and disconnect your appliance from the mains before carrying out any work, repairs or replacements.

How to replace a dishwasher door seal on a Bosch dishwasher

Let's begin! To learn how to replace a Bosch dishwasher door seal, either watch the video or follow our step-by-step guide below.

Step 1: Remove the baskets

To begin, you'll first need to remove the lower and upper baskets from inside the dishwasher. You can simply slide these out of the appliance and place them aside.

Step 2: Remove the old seal

With the baskets removed, you can go ahead and remove the 3-sided door seal. To remove the seal, take hold of one corner and gradually pull it away from the frame by hand, working your way around as you go.

Step 3: Fit the new seal

Before fitting the new 3-sided door seal, make sure you have it the right way around. If you look at the end of the seal, you will be able to see that the lip is extended on one side. The seal should be fitted so that the extended side of the seal is facing inwards.

When fitting the new seal, leave about 2 centimetres of space at the bottom of the frame. Then push the seal into the groove around the door frame, working your way around the frame as you go.

Once you get to the end, you can cut off any excess door seal with a pair of scissors, again leaving about 2 centimetres between the end of the seal and the bottom of the frame.

Step 4: Return the baskets

Now that your new door seal is firmly in place, you can go ahead and return the baskets inside the dishwasher.

And that's all there is to replacing a dishwasher door seal on a Bosch dishwasher! Your dishwasher should now be leak-free and working safely once more.

Now that your appliance is up and running properly again, it's also important to make sure you're using it correctly and as efficiently as possible.
