How to Fit Freezer Drawer Fronts

The plastic fronts on freezer drawers become brittle when cold and can easily crack. Over time they can also be subject to knocks and bumps, or you may have pulled the cover to heavily resulting in it becoming damaged.

Freezer drawers are commonly supplied in two parts: the freezer drawer body, and the freezer drawer cover (front) - and they can prove difficult to seperate without causing further damage.

If you need to replace the drawer front on your freezer, you have certainly come to the right place! Through watching this video we’ll show you how to replace the drawer front successfully, without damaging the drawers.

Not only that, you can also view our range of replacement drawer covers on the eSpares website, so you can be sure that you have the correct drawer cover or your model.

This video shows an example on how to remove or replace the part on a typical machine, some models may be different but the procedure should be similar.

What You Will Need:

Step 1 - Safety Advice

Safety First! Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

Step 2 - Release The Drawer Pegs

When looking at the drawer you should be able to locate some pegs that lock the front cover in place. You need to free these pegs, and to make it easier for you ensure that the plastic is warm - as softening it makes it less likely to crack.

Proceed to work on the bottom edge - carefully push a flat blade, a blunt knife or even an old credit card between the front and the locating pegs to help part the clip.

Slowly and carefully work along the edge from one side to the other, continuing to open up the join until you can lift it away from the bottom.

eSpares Top Tip: Take your time with this to avoid any damage, if you have an old credit card or shop card you can even cut it into strips to make life a little easier for you.

Once you release the pegs on the bottom edge you can work on the sides to release the front from the drawer body. If any of the pegs do go back into their holes, simply feed a credit card or shop card in between the gap.

Step 3 - Fit The New Drawer Front

Good news - all the hard work is done! All that you need to do now is to put your new front on your drawer. There are two pegs at the top that you just need to position your drawer front onto, and then hinge the drawer front down and click it into place.

Well done you - you have reached the finish line! You have now successfully changed the drawer cover on your freezer drawer - and all down to your hard work, patience and a little help from us at eSpares of course!

You will now be able to open and close the front panel on your freezer drawer with some confidence that it is not going to crack any further, or cause you any injury. Your frozen goods will be safely and securely stored in your freezer again.
