How to Find a Dryer Model Number

If you need to diagnose a fault with your tumble dryer or replace the parts, it's important to know your appliance's model number. Having this to hand will make it easier for you to access the information that you need. In this article, we're going to show you where to find the model number on your tumble dryer.

Why is it important to know my tumble dryer model number?

If you need to replace a part on your tumble dryer, the model number will help you to find the correct one to fit your machine. Many spare parts look very similar but they do vary in size and shape so although a part may look like it will fit your appliance, it might not actually be suitable.

Another very important reason to know your model number is for the safety of the appliance. Manufacturers sometimes recall tumble dryers due to safety concerns. When they do this, they will release a series of model numbers so you can check if yours has been recalled. Knowing your model number will mean you can check if your appliance has been affected and find out what to do next. Our video on appliance recalls explains more about these, where you can find them and what it means for appliances affected.

What you're looking for

Where to find it

Check 1: Behind the door

The model number is most likely to be located behind the door of your tumbler dryer. Take a look at the door frame as well as behind the door itself.

Check 2: Kickplate

If the data plate isn't behind the door, next check the kickplate. This is located on the front of the appliance at the bottom. Remove the kickplate by unclipping it from the dryer and check behind it.

When you have located your model number, you'll then need to know what to look for. The format of the model number and the product or serial number varies depending on the manufacturer of the appliance. The model number will typically be a combination of letters and numbers and also contain special characters such as a dash or a slash. The model number will often be indicated with "Model" or "Mod" in front of it.
