  Just the Job 27 October 2017

  We have an 11-year-old 'Diplomat' branded gas oven which was suffering from one of the two oven knob controls no longer gripping the oven's D-shaped shaft, Therefore, to enable us to use the oven I was having to use long-nosed pliers to turn it on and off. I visited a local white goods dealer to see if he stocked any knobs that might fit. He was unable to help, but suggested I visited the espares website. I had not heard of espares prior to this. On the website I quickly found all of the available spares for the 'Diplomat' brand, and was able to identify the control knobs through an image shown on the website. I duly ordered two of them. I was able to fit these new knobs very easily as they were only requiring to be carefully pushed on to the oven's shafts, and that was it - job done - great.

  have brought loads of these for 90 yr old father in law who breaks them by leaving oven door open so heat makes them brittle. Easy to fit even for older people. Seem good quality and well made same as original. These are expensive for what they are but you have to expect that. Delivery could be cheaper for such a small item

  Expensive piece of plastic 25 October 2015

  Could not believe the price of this simple plastic knob when compared to a highly engineered and complex hinge. However, whilst ordering that item I thought it best to buy a new knob for the oven temperature controller as the old one was very loose and giving a variation in temperature of 20 degrees. When this one came, though, the correct way of fitting meant the indicator bit was not on the zero but at the bottom of the dial. For some reason on my cooker this was different to the other 2 knobs. I managed with some jiggery pokery of the old knob and this new one (turned out the metal piece inside was missing, thus causing the looseness) as having a loose knob on the grill selection was not so vital.

  Fitted in seconds. We have bought the same knobs previously direct from the oven manufacturer and they were far more expensive. We shall be buying from espares in future!
