Hi andy1976, it sounds as if heat is escaping from the top oven, causing the control knobs to melt. A damaged door seal is the most common reason for this happening. Check out the video on this page for help fitting the door seal.

'Goal post' refers to a 'top bar' with vertical 'posts' so creating a square shape with the lower edge missing.
The existing lower oven is around 33 years old and is goalpost design with rounded corners attached with clips?

The clips supplied with this kit will give 'square' corners but it should be possible to use this kit.
Do I need to use a heat resistant sealant also as the seal will actually be fitted on the door not the oven surround. 1 Answer
there would be quite a gap between the hooks and the original seal was stuck down as well as hooked. My cooker is a Leisure Bistro 55 ng 5767.

The seal should not be stuck down just held taught by trimming a little shorter than the actual length and stretching into position.

Can a universal seal kit be slided in to place as on my stoves 050551109.?The seal on my oven has no clips? 1 Answer
The seal on my top & main oven has no clips and the seal just slides into place as described in the maintenance book that came with oven.It says it can be replaced by sliding a new one in then trim to size. Will this unversal kit work?

It may be possible to modify your oven to accept this seal but I would only recommend this if you cannot obtain the original part. The oven has been designed to use the original seal and therefore is likely to work as good as possible with that part, this may not be the case with an alternative.
