Universal cooker hood lamps designed to fit many different cooker hood models

Product Q&A

Ask a Question

The bulbs failed so replaced both with genuine bulbs but neither work in the hood. The fan and controls etc work but not the lights. I have checked the bulb holder contacts and pulled the contact plate up but still not working. There is not much more to go wrong with the bulb holder. I assume that it is likely to be the light switch that has failed somehow. Is this likely?

You will need to check the continuity of connections from the switch to the power connection and through to the lamps and motor. Remember to disconnect first before working on it.

  • There are no obvious 'witness marks' where blackening has occurred. By Malcolm - cotswolds - 05 November 2014

The switch may be OK but the board that the switch is on may have been damaged if the bulb went short circuit. Examine the switch assembly for 'witness marks' where blackening has occurred from damage.

Most cooker hoods are hard-wired so will normally have a fuse in the socket to isolate the power, if yours has a plug it will be inside that.

Unfortunately we are unable to provide the dimensions of this part. The parts listed on our website are all model and serial number dependant (apart from universal parts). In order for us to locate the correct spares for your appliance we would need the model information requested. Without this we cannot guarantee that the part ordered will be the correct one for your appliance.

It is likely to be the bulbs as this cannot be due to a fault on the hood itself.

There is likely to be a fuse where the extractor is connected to the wall either on a plug or in a fused switch. If there is power at the wall it may have blown print on the switch-bank itself as this can happen with excess current.
