How to replace a washing machine door handle
This video should help with fitting this part. However, the exact layout and fitting technique may differ for your make and model.
Be safe - always unplug any appliance from the electricity supply before carrying out any work on it.
If you are in any doubt contact a qualified repairer.
This handle fitted our hotpoint bwd129 washing machine perfectly. We used the string method to open the locked door - beware this takes patience. I tried and failed many times, however my partner eventually managed so you may need someone strong around! We also had to do a dash to B&Q to get the correct size of screwdriver to remove the washing machine door, however once this was done we managed to replace the handle fairly easily. It's certainly a bit fiddly but didn't take too many attempts to get to done! Washing machine fixed, and I am a happy lady!

Easy to locate part on the website and the video demonstration is invaluable both in deciding to try fitting it myself and during the actual fitting. Would definitely recommend eSpares.
Hi there, i bought this item White Washing Machine Door Handle Kit (ES835853). However it didnt come with any instructions. Also I didnt see how the old handle was fitted before. The problem I have now is that the catch is loose and isnt catching the door lock so the machine wil not start. I know this sounds ridiculous but i am an engineer!! (electrical) Just cant figure it out. The hook part of the latch is facing away from the centre, however it is loose and free to move on the pin (the way I have fitted it anyway!)
PLEASE HELP!

You need to remove the handle to get to the lock. Use a narrow chisel - 1/4 inch. The handle itself is attached to the spindle at two points, chop through each with the chisel and the handle will come off the door. You can then hook the latch back and open the door. Watch the video to see where to cut, it worked for me!
