Easy to fit and exactly the part that was required. Pretty expensive for a piece of plastic, though... Remember when fitting that the latch inside the washing machine lock may still be in the "closed" position. You'll need a small screw driver or such to pry it to the side.

Easy to fit and delivered relatively quickly. But once you add the item cost to the delivery charge, it makes you wonder if it it worth the effort. All you get for your money is small catch that probably cost less than a penny to make. Fitted the part but then discovered that the latch part inside the machine had seized. No handy video's offered on any site on how to replace this part. Unlike a Hotpoint tumble dryer, to replace the Hoover part will require a complete strip down. This makes replacement uneconomic. So I am left with having to replace the dryer....guess what: it won't be a Hoover !

Simplest repair ever. Seems a lot for a bit of plastic but much cheaper than an engineer.

  • Q What is the part # for latch and how do I remove old one on Hoover VHV781NC? 1 Answer

It seems to be held on by a single screw and some sort of push in fixing. but removing these does not seem to loosen the part. It also seems to be stuck in the locked position so I cannot close the door.

To remove this slide to the side once the screw is removed. To access the lock you may have to remove the top, control panel, kick plate, door door seal and front panel.

To replace the catch in the picture this just unscrews from the door. To change the door lock you need to remove the top, the control panel the kick plat and the front panel to get access.
