  • Tried all of the tips below without success. Then went into the garage and took a pair of reinforced rubber gloves (the type that are a fabric material dipped in a rubber-type solution) and it unscrewed without hardly any effort. If you haven't got any, ask a friend or neighbour that messes around with cars or motorbikes and they'll probably have a pair you might borrow. By Top Tips Timmy - Coventry - 21 October 2018

Hi Crilly, We've had a lot of feedback on this issue and have since introduced a light cover removal tool. This should make the job a lot easier, see it here.

  • I guess this depends on the oven model. I recently replaced the bulb in our main (Neff) oven. The glass cover unscrewed though it was a little tight to shift at first. The bulb is also a screw fitting and is quite recessed in its housing. It's just possible to get enough grip on the glass to unscrew it. The whole task took a couple of minutes to complete. No tools required. By MrBodgeit - Chester - 01 November 2009
  • If located at the top rear right hand side you should be able to unscrew the lamp cover by turning it anti-clockwise. To prevent damage place a towel into the oven bottom. These can be really stubborn - if no good with the oven cold, try warming it up to say 70 degrees C and allow it to cool a little and while still warm try removing again. Neff's call centre suggest vinegar to help loosen it. By Dizco - Bristol - 26 October 2009

  • Hi Roger. I have exactly the same Neff pyrolitic oven as you. Today, I removed my bulb (it lasted just over 4 years from when oven new), and it said on it 300 degrees C, so I have just ordered 2 of these bulbs. By Bill - High Wycombe - 18 November 2018
  • That doesn't answer the question. My replacement bulb has just failed and I suspect that their life is dramatically shortened due to the very high temperatures used in self-cleaning ovens. The answer may be to temporarily remove the bulb before commencing a self-clean programme. By RAG - LONDON, - 18 March 2017

  • in our Neff oven, between 3 and 6 months. The first time the bulb went I thought it must have been a faulty bulb, but we've got through 4 bulbs in the past year. I always buy them at least two at a time now. By nick - camberley - 28 December 2012

Answer this question

The light bulb i have removed from my oven looks slimmer than the one in the picture. The diameter of the lamp cover is 3.5 cm / less than 1.5 in. Does anyone know the size of this light bulb please? Thanks
