Re-placing drum bearings in a front loader washing machine is not a task to be undertaken lightly. Everything has to be taken apart and the drum assembly removed from the chassis. I used a block and tackle hung from an overhead beam to support the weight of the drum. Once I had sussed this out, it wasn't too difficult to separate the various parts. The bearings were well and truely mangled, so a lot of force was needed to remove them from the spider. I had hoped to re-use the spider and fit new bearings and a seal, but couldn't find these anywhere, so had to settle for a complete assembly. I took a lot of photos of the various plumbing and electrical connections, which ensured everything went back together OK. The several parts I needed for the job arrived swiftly and were all correct. Despite the cost of the parts, and discounting my own labour, I reckon that all in all it was worth doing.
