Small difference in design results in the aperture hole for the cable gland being slightly larger and results in a loose fit for the old cable gland. I did not realise this before purchasing the switch housing and would advise purchasing a new cable gland with the housing.

Hi there, first you'll need to remove the on-off switch - check out from 1:15 in this video for help doing that: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/vacuum-cleaners/a/4/1312/how-to-replace-a-motor-on-a-dyson-dc07.html. The vacuum is a different model from yours but the process will be similar. After doing that you'll be able to free the switch housing. Then you'll need to remove the plug from the other end of the cable - then you'll be able to slide the old switch housing off the power cable. Reverse the process to fit the new one. Best of luck!
