Sorry to trouble you, but this is this is the second question I have regarding my fridge/freezer. I have already ordered a thermostat from you (on which I am awaiting delivery), but I am now not sure that this is the cause of my problem. The compressor runs continuously, but the fridge cabinet is only cooling slightly. The freezer compartment appears to be maintaining a good frozen level. If you think my problem is not the thermostat, may I change my order? Regards.

Check the freezer temperature, if it is not below -20 then the compressor is either short of gas or worn out. Both require a refrigeration engineer to resolve. You can request credit for unwanted parts.

Answer this question

My fridge/freezer compressor keeps running continuously, and I notice that the cabinet area between the fridge and freezer compartment doors gets very warm. If I reset the thermostat by turning it all the way off and back to number 3 or 4, the compressor is idle for a while and will then start to run permanently again. The fridge compartment often suffers from a build up of ice in and around the drain hole. If a new thermostat is required, how do I fit it?

When a compressor is stopped and restarted before the pressure has dispersed it will trip for a couple of minutes. The heat is normal. If the temperature is below normal (freezing in the fridge) then the thermostat is te most likely problem.
