Description

Universal Fridge Plexiglass Shelf

Can't find the right fridge shelf for your model? This could be the spare for you. This is a universal spare is made out of plexiglass - so you can cut it to size yourself. If your current shelf has shattered or cracked, it is best to have it replaced, because it will be unsafe to use and store your items on - and over time it will only become weaker.

To cut this glass, use a saw and then remove the sharp edges by using a file or sandpaper.

The important thing is to take note of its size (shown in specification area below), as this will help determine whether this particular shelf is suitable for your fridge.

Specification:

  • Size: 550mm x 480mm x 5mm
  • Cut to size

Compatible spare part suitable for most refrigerators.

PLEASE NOTE: Prior to purchase of this item please check the dimensions to make sure this is the same size or slightly larger than your original shelf as it can be cut down.

I was unable to buy new shelving for an oldish fridge. Good low cost alternative. Not the easiest to cut but good for a workout....

As written by other reviewers, can be cut easily as long the plexiglass is held firm! A little disappointed with the strength of it and don't think that much weight will be able to be put on the shelf.

Well believe it or not ..... I used all I had available A SAW ! Yep normal wood saw and it took me five mins . A couple of tips whilst your trying . Keep the saw as level as possible so cutting more across the length rather than into it and just go along with its OWN speed ! When you near the end take it slowly with NO pressure else it may crack , and its done .

Check some of the reviews, most seem to have success using a fine toothed saw.

  • Q I have a Whirlpool american style fridge freezer 20RI-D3 SF the shelf size is 395 x 285mm could the glass be cut to this size? 2 Answers

(I think the earlier answer may be for a different question!!) This plexiglass is plastic rather than true glass, and the intention is for you to cut the shelf to size. Measure and mark carefully, maybe applying something you can write on, preferably to the removable plastic film ('magic tape' or labels or decorators tape etc). Use either a fine-tooth saw or a jigsaw or a water-cooled diamond-wheel tile-cutting machine, then gently smooth off the cut edges, e.g. with a sanding block. Do NOT try score-and-snap, it doesn't work well on this material. If you could cope with a width of 273.5mm rather than 285mm, you'd just get 2 shelves out of this item.

Closely check whether the door is closing squarely to the cabinet. If not, the door hinges may be faulty. Try removing the door seal to determine whether the door closes further - if it does not this would indicate a fault with the hinges. Otherwise, you may need to replace the seal.

  • Q Is the a reinforcing edging strip available? 1 Answer

Under weight (like 2 litre milk containers) it tends to bend. All the shelves that came with the fridge have an edging strip that stops them bending. This was a present from my daughter and I would like to use it!

We do not sell 'edging' for this product. Either swap shelves for a lighter loaded original, or you can either 'double up' the shelf or glue strips of off cut under to reinforce the shelve.
