I thought my miele washer had gone for good, a guy at work suggested the brushes and recomende e spares. Followed the reviews and how to replace which was very useful although I struggled to understand how to release the brushes at first. Took me 2 hrs but I reckon I could do it in 45 mins now. One word of caution wear a dust mask as the fine carbon dust from the old brushes gets everywhere no matter how careful you are, my nose was irritated for 2 days after. If possible take the motor off and outside / in garage as the black dust seems to get everywhere. Cost very little against the price of a new washer. I reckon if the Miele engineer had come it would have cost a fortune as there would be call out charge and he would likely replaced the motor.

fitted perfectly a handy touch is the little brass clips which hold the brushes open so that you can slide it back over the commutater(impossible to do if they were not there)just lift them with a small screw driver and the brushes slide down onto the com,lay the machine on it's lefthand side on some paddingt thick enough not to trap your fingers between the machine and the floor(get help Miele machines seem to weigh as much as a small car) the motor must be removed to replace the brushes pull off the electrical connections at the motor remove the belt tensioning bolt and remove the two pivoting bolts remove the motor from the machine(careful it's heavy) remove the plastic outer cover exposing the brush holder remove three screw fixing and carefully remove the brush holder remove the two plastic plates one at a time fit the brush with the holder making sure that the angle on the end of the brush is the same way as the one you have just taken out replace plastic plate repeat with the next brush carefully refit brush holder refasten the three screws and release the brushes fit cover and replace motor leave the motor tension bolt slightly slack using a screwdriver as a lever to keep the tension on the belt finaly tighten push on electrical connections

Quality appeared fine. Orange/red plastic holders did not fit the receptacles on the machine. They were removed and replaced with originals from old brushes. Copper retainer had the feature of allowing the carbon brushes to be held back from the commutator which made installation particularly easy. Machine worked after fitting.
