The door of my neighbours Howden dishwasher just dropped down when opening it. There was also no assistance when lifting the door. A little research suggested it might be a spring or a pulley rope. We decided to buy a pair of each and replace them on both sides. Removing the side panels of the dishwasher was very simple and immediately we found one of the springs had broken. Replacement of both springs and both ropes took five minutes! The door now works perfectly. Replacing the few screws on the side panels was quickly finished. The neighbour and myself are very satisfied with the results and pleased that it was an easy repair. I would recommend replacing both items on both sides - especially if the machine is a few years old. The total cost for these original parts from ESpares was much less than expected and standard delivery was 48 hours. Finding and ordering the parts on ESpares website was so simple. Overall very happy with the whole project!

  • Q Diplomat Dishwasher Model ADP8640 Door Problem 1 Answer

Hi the door of the above mentioned dishwasher has just recently started to cause problems, it no longer will hold itself open, and will fall with all of it's weight (If I were to allow it) to the fully open position. Before, I could open it slightly and it would quite happily hold and stay in that position. Please can you advise as to what the problem could be and which part I need to get as a replacement. many thanks

You need a new spring for the door as I had the same problem. I found what I wanted on the web site but phoned for clarification. The part came as soon as it was available and at a reasonable price.
