Re Cait's question: It is not unusual for disturbed dust to smell and even the element themselves if left can start to oxidise and this can cause a smell. If the suppressor had any stickiness I would recommend replacement.

  • my beko dc1730 was tripping the electric when i plugged the machine into the socket. after taking near everything apart and cleaning with the hoover, hairdryer and washing (i had a lot of glupe, in the fan and heating elements area) the machine was still tripping, leaving the machine apart for a few days and drying with a radiator also didnt help. i returned to the machine to look for any damaged wiring etc and noticed that the mains interference filter was really sticky, i removed it and gave it a clean, dried it with the hairdryer and returned it to the machine etc. WOW the machine hasnt tripped the electricity, there was a few moments of a burning smell, then this stopped, so i put that down to all the dislodging of dust etc. the machine ran for 10 mins with no burning smell, all im wondering is? is it ok to use? there were no visable signs of damage to the mains filter or smell from the sticky stuff, nothing else in the machine was sticky not even the connecting wires to the mains filter. is this usual/tippical for a mains filter fault? Remove the filter and carefully examine for bulges or signs of leaking. If i doubt replace it as it could catch fire even if the machine is not running but connected to the mains. We have added a video to this part.

Check your instructions if your machine has a control panel reset. Check the condenser and its tabs are in the correct position. There should be no metal parts that would entangle with your clothes. Check it is not a under wire from a bra that has come out.
