I have a John Lewis JLBIOS603 and 2 elements are shown as compatible with this oven. The ES1005463 and this one. I couldn't see any difference between them so I bought the cheaper of the 2, figuring that they were the same product from different manufacturers. The element was at a good price and turned up quickly. But I didn't look at the pictures hard enough nor did I pull the old element out to look at it. Dumb move on my part. It turns out that they have different mountings. This one has an earthing tab between the 2 terminals and 2 holes on the outside. The other one has a single hole where the earthing tab is on this one and no earthing tab at all. If you zoom in it is easy to see. I'm guessing that my oven has changed over the years and some variants use one and other variants use the other? Upshot was that the new element wouldn't fit :-( A few minutes out in the shed and the earthing tab had been snapped off and a 5mm hole drilled in the right place and it went in no problems and works fine. It would have been nice however if the "Full Product Details" had highlighted that there are different mounting variants and prompted me to dig a little deeper before ordering. However, I don't doubt that the element would have been swapped over if I had mentioned that it was the wrong one. For me, it was quicker and easier to work around my mistake and it all turned out good in the end :-)

Sorry you had problems with your element, as you say there is likely to have been production changes and with the right product code we would have been able to identify the correct one. As these elements are likely to fit a number of ovens we cannot update the product information to cover all variants so can only give the general advice of 'Please check the list of suitable models to ensure that this spare part will fit your appliance'. As you say we would have happily changed this in the event of a part incorrectly ordered.

Hi I removed the element from the oven, the live and neutral was connected but there is no earth to be seen. ? What happens next?

    By simon torr - Salisbury - 23 April 2016

The element will earth through the connecting bolts and on many ovens will not have a separate earth connection.

  • Q this part is identical to the one I have removed so why is it not compatible? 1 Answer

    By Anonymous - South Wales - 20 October 2014

    • A
A part is only listed as compatible when we have been notified it will fit a specific model. It may indeed be the correct part for your appliance but we cannot confirm this at this time. If it proves unsuitable we will of course accept the return of the part (subject to our conditions).

  • Q just removed the original element to find only have two connected points new element received has three connected points what to do next? 1 Answer

Unsure what to do with middle connector

    By stuart - london - 08 May 2014

    • A
The two outer connections are used the third in the middle is an earth connection, this is not required as the element earths through the screws to the cavity.
