Needed a new main heating element for my Belling XOU177ss oven which is now at least 12 years old. Ordered the part late Sunday evening and it arrived before 10am the following day. Relatively easy to fit, the only slight snag being that this element had fixed threaded studs (unlike the old element) which I needed nuts to fit. Fortunately I found a couple in my garage and from then on easy. Voila, oven working perfectly again! Thanks to e-spares.

This is the 3rd element I have fitted to my Homark cooker, the first one was from another supplier and it didn't last very long and was more expensive than the espares element. The last one was from espares and it has lasted exactly 3yrs and 2 weeks. For the price I think this is exellent value for money. Also I have noticed that the price for this item has only risen by 80 pence in three years, how about that for inflation. Excellent!!! Would recommend espares to anyone.

To help prevent damage to a fan element turn the thermostat down to minimum for thirty seconds before switching off. Switching straight off stopping the circulation fan immediately when the element is hot can cause overheating and damage the element as the circulating air stops.
  • Value for money, not quite a direct replacement without minor modification

The element is described as a compatible replacement for a Belling Country Chef 924. However some modification required. 1. No earth tag fitted and note in description that it does state this but is at variance with initial compatibility check. As I had a spade male tag I drilled a suitable hole and used a 4 BA nut and bolt problem solved. 2. Main issue is fixing as original element has taped threaded holes and replacement had clearance holes. Resolved issue by taping a 2 BA thread and then fixing two 2 BA set screws at front of mounting passing them through the oven chassis and securing with a shakeproof washer and nut. All fits and secure but perhaps consideration should be given to these points

  • Q i have a belling built in oven grill and top oven work perfect but main oven just bows cold air what could this be it is fan assisted 1 Answer

Hi Neildale, It's hard to know for sure without having actually seen your cooker.. If there is a grill on the main oven and it's working great than I would hazard to guess that it's probably the fan element that needs to be replaced. The other main culprit for the issue you're describing would be the oven thermostat. We'll have more articles in our help centre on diagnosing cooker issues shortly.

  • Q Do I have to pull out the oven to fit this from the rear? 1 Answer

    By robster1000 - 14 July 2009

No! There 2 screws holding the element cover in side the oven. Remove this and simply unhook the element and pull out gently. The 2 connector wires will come out. disconnect and replace the element Simple
