Description

Noticed the motor is working, but not to it's full potential. Could be the carbon brushes that need replacing. Fix your washing machine yourself and save hard-earned cash. Replacing carbon brushes on a washing machine might sound scary, but it's a surprisingly easy fix it.

This video should help with fitting this part. However, the exact layout and fitting technique may differ for your make and model.

Watched video prior to fitting brushes - found it very helpful and machine now running. Took at least 2 washes to let the new brushes settle in

Q Bosch WFO2264GB/01 3 Answers
The washing machine does not start at all. Could it be the carbon brushers need replaced or a faulty motor? I'm not sure if the motor does not waork when the carbon brushes are worn out. Please advise.

  If the washer was working normally and then the motor stops turning but everything else looks o.k. it is probably the brushes as they do wear out. This is a good value replacement product, They are a little bit fiddley to fit. Lots of patience.

  Likely to be the brushes. If the machine looks like its operating, making a clicking noise from the relay when it should be turning the drum, but the drum doesn't turn, then that's what it will most likely be. Either that or the belt has gone, but you will see that straight away when you take the back off the machine & you'd here the motor turning in that case If you take the brushes out they are approx 2" (50mm) long when new, chances are they will be about 5mm long if worn out.

Q My bosch washing machine has stopped spinning. Could this be that the carbon brushes need changing? 1 Answer
the filter is clear, the machine drains fine. the belt is fine. all other functions seem to work, though it did leak a lot of water when I last used it on monday. The drum just doesnt turn at all. It is at least 10.5 years old.

  Hiya- yes, if as you said the belt seems to be taught and you can't spin the drum freely when the machine is off/ stopped then most likely it will be the carbon brushes.
  
  It might be worth replacing the seal as well if the machine is leaking and if you've not replaced the seal for quite some time. 10.5 years is pretty good going for the machine though! :)
