If your tumble dryer's drum shaft has worn out, there are two tell-tale signs: the drum will be making clanging noises when the machine is running, and the drum will be moving around inside the cavity of your dryer. Replace a worn out drum shaft pin with this spare from Hotpoint to restore your dryer to working order.
Genuine spare part for select Ariston, Creda, Crusader, Hotpoint, Indesit, Jackson and Proline tumble dryers. Prior to ordering, please check the list of appliances to ensure this is the right part for you.
This video should help with fitting this part. However, the exact layout and fitting technique may differ for your make and model.
Be safe - always unplug any appliance from the electricity supply before carrying out any work on it. If you are in any doubt contact a qualified repairer.

The drier (TVM560p)started making some thumping noises when in use so I took the back off and found that the rear shaft had worn right through the bearing and then had started eating through the casing. This part (plus a new shaft) has fixed the problem for a very little cash and all is working well now. Simplicity itslef to fit - remove the retaining cap (split pin) one screw then slide off the old bearing. Fit new shaft slide on bearing, insert screw and re-attach cap. All done

The screws you remove are self tapping, so no tap is required.
by Ben - 30 May 2011
Hi there, the screws you need are Torx head, T25 - so the tap would correspond to this.

the holes on the plate are obvious to secure one end of the drum shaft, but does the pointy end of the shaft have a hole across the shaft to allow the fitment of a split pin? This is for a replacement of a Creda Excel T632CW Condenser Dryer drum shaft.

A split pin can be used, but there is a special "S" shaped pin that goes in this cross drill hole. Always use a washer between bearing and split pin/"S" pin.
by marlincar - 22 April 2010
yes this shaft is drilled to accept a pin, use the pin that is in the old shaft, not a split pin, the pin is just a single, easy to fit.

Will the old mounting plate be able to be removed by drilling out the old rivets and fitting this in its place?
by Andy - 29 May 2011
Hi Andy, the best way to tell if this shaft will fit your dryer is to check your model number is listed above. If not, search for your model number in the bar at the top of the page to list all parts available for it.
