Description

If you can hear the motor struggling to work, and a faint burning smell is coming from the polisher, then it sounds like the belt is getting jammed and causing too much friction. So, replace the part and get that floor squeaky clean again.

This is a genuine spare part that will fit the selected Electrolux floor polishers shown in the list of appliances.

When the original belt finally gave up after many years service, we were very pleased to find that replacements were still available. The old belt was in pieces and it was difficult to work out how it had been fitted around the 3 rotating heads. However, the answer was that it isn't fitted around the 3 heads only 2 of them and around the drive shaft. Once you work that out and give the new belt a good soak in hot water before fitting to give it a bit more elasticity, it went on quite readily. It's a shame this site does not allow you to upload photos as that would make it much easier to show how the belt is fitted. All working fine again now and looking forward to many more years service from this floor polisher.

My polishing machine is 22 years old and when the drive belt broke a few weeks ago, I thought that is that. No way will I find a replacement. But remarkably enough, epares did have a new one and it was easy to fit!

Genuine article but needs to come with a health warning. Very precise fit and finally achieved with guile and a soak in hot water.

  • Q This is a tight fit. Is there advice anywhere on how to fit a new BS37 Belt ? 1 Answer

Answer my own question but may help others. At first sight it appears impossibly small. A bit of stretching with a soak in hot water did the trick - finally. Needs to fit over drive spindle to start and then "wind" it over the two bottom polishers. Persevere and it does happen!

  • Q Are there longer versions of this drive belt 1 Answer

The drive belt shown is 710mm long. I need one that is 805mm long. Can I get it? My polisher is an old electrolux and the old belt was 805mm long and similar to this one in every other way.
