  Compared to the price of a branded makers element this seems too good to be true. Fitting was a simplicity itself. Package arrived ten am oven working again quarter past ten am. Will have to see working life of component to fully assess value.

• Q The wire clips which connect to the element - one has arced with the old element and corroded 2 Answers

  Is there a replacement wire to connect to the element? My father is a qualified electrician and could fit it with the right part.

    That is correct but ensure the "Lucar" spade terminal is not plastic coated! Always use plain connectors.

    They are standard spade connectors (female) can be purchased readily from DIY or motor spares outlets and crimped to the existing wire.

• Q NEFF B142W2GB 2 Answers

  I have a NEFF B142W2GB, its around 3 years old. When I use the grill its ok, but when I put the oven on it runs for about 10 to 12 minuets and then it blows the 63A 30mA RCD in the consumer unit. Could it be the element.

    sounds like it could be - my oven element tripped the RCD when it went. Your element could be shorting only when it gets really hot and so when it trips and cools down again it is no longer a short circuit. So a new element is the likey answer but I am no expert - just a humble engineer. I bought the universal one and it is easy to fit - dont know about reliability - only had it a week.

• Q How do you remove the fixings 2 Answers

  The fixings on the terminal plate of my cooker element are different. One is a phillips self tapping screw but the other is a very slim headed bolt with a head approx 1mm thick. I cant get any purchase on this to remove it. Any ideas how to remove?

    I had the same problem. It is necessary to pull the oven out, remove the screws and take off the back plate. Obviously you have switched off at the supply point. You can then get access to a nut and undo it. I replaced my element with an M4 bolt. Make sure you fit the earthing wire when you put the washer and nut back on. Good luck. I hate espares

    I assume 1mm thick means the depth not the width of the head. It could be a countersunk screw. Assuming you have enough room, try using a good pair of "Mole Grips" to get the screw started. If all else fails, try tapping with a centre punch at a 60 degree tangent, and replacing the screw

• Q Why a different watt to the genuine part? 2 Answers

  Hello. I have just ordered this part for my Neff U1422 but have just noticed that there is a difference in this and the genuine part. This item is listed as 2400w and the genuine part (which I thought would be same spec) is listed as 2300w (item ES655398). Would you please advise why there is a difference as I am not concerned about safety. Cheers.

    Don't worry about the rating, as the voltage tolerance has changed in recent years in the UK. It may just take a few minutes longer to cook stuff.

    The universal versions are made to suit the majority of ovens, fitting this as a replacement for a 2300w version will not cause any issues. The oven's thermostat will control the temperature it reaches. So in my opinion nothing to worry about.

• Q what do you do with the earth wires 2 Answers

  there are two wires for the earth terminal coming from the back of the oven what do you do with these as they might touch the live connections when replacing the element back into postion

    Hi There. Simply remove the spade connection for the earth connection on the element, then fit a ring type crimp on the wire, pass 1 of the fixing screws through the hole in the ring terminal & replace the fixing screw to secure the element & this will re-fix the earth in the correct position. Regards
