The price of this fan was an absolute bargain when compared to the o.e. price from Cannon. The real problem was that the shaft was considerably longer than the original, meaning spacers needed to be fitted to prevent the fan blades fouling the interior cover plate. This task isn't easy and requires a second pair of hands.Once sorted,it worked really well.

This part although not the correct one for my oven, was easy to fit using spacers and is working well. Very Happy with this part.

  • Q When i turn the oven on there is a delay thats getting longer before the fan starts. Does this mean it needs replacing? 2 Answers

A Slower and slower start for the fan was symptomatic of the need for a new one. But beware - the element relies on the airflow to cool it Left un cooled it will eventually blow , as mine did , resulting in another 20 quid down the pan. Change the fan now and you might be lucky.

Sounds like you mighht have a loose conection or it on its way out. I would just wait till it packs in or open up back and check all spade conectors if it is not to much hastle for yourself

  • Q I bought the Univesal Oven Fan Motor for my Hotpoint UQ89I. The spindal is longer than the motor it replaces so the fan fouls the cover inside the oven. Is there a simple way round this? 1 Answer

If the distance isn't too great, pack out the cover

  • Q Fan switches ON / OFF / ON etc 1 Answer

When the oven reaches correct temp the fan comes on (like normal) however after short while the fan will go OFF then ON and you can hear 'whirling noise' strangley the freeview picture on TV around 5 metres away will pixalate.... When the upper oven/grill is open fan stays on (like normal). Do you think the problem is the Universal Oven Fan Motor.?

HI From what you say the Fan is controlled by a thermostat being in the oven circuit i.e effectively a switch in series with the motor. For the TV picture to break up means that there is electrical interference close by so one theory is that There is "arcing" across the thermostat contacts as fan motors do not have brushes which can give problems. Only my guess and I may be wrong

  • Q I am unable to release the nut that holds the fan in place. 1 Answer

I am aware that it is opposite thread but the oven has been in use for 10 years or so, is there a particular method for releasing this nut. Not sure about using WD40 in the oven as the smell would linger.

I've just removed mine from my cooker thats been used every day for more than ten years. You are right to unscrew the nut by turning clock wise(this is opposite to normal).Hold the fan blade with one hand - maybe with a glove on and using a 10mm spanner undo the nut, it does not matter if you have to use excessive force or even shear the fan motor spindle as obviously you are removing the fan blade to replace the fan motor i presume.

  • Q When trying to connect my new universal fan motor i have two spade connection wires which are brown , and the other is white with a black , does it matter which of the spades on my new motor these connect to, they are numbered 2 and 3. 1 Answer

I took a photo of mine before unplugging the connectors off the motor. If your motor only fits on one way, it should just go back on the same way. I`m no expert but it worked that way for me.
